J. J. Abrams’ Star Trek movie gets a big thumbs up from me; much to my surprise I actually enjoyed a Star Trek film! Chris Pine (who I’d never heard of before) was an excellent Captain Kirk.

Interestingly enough I was also surprised that I liked the film. I grew up with the original series and wasn’t sure I’d like the revisitation of Roddenberry’s work. But, I enjoyed the movie much more than I expected.
It would have been interesting to see more of Kirk’s internal dialogue as he confronted the challenges, but still he presented an interesting take on the good captain.
